Oxford Canal Festival - 21st September 2024

The bi-annual festival is to be held on Saturday 21st September 2024, 11am to 6pm, on Aristotle Lane Recreation Ground.

The 2022 Festival was a huge success, and this one will be every bit as good...

  • Live Music,
  • Arts and Crafts (for kids),
  • Spoken Word (guest Philip Pullman),
  • Dog Show,
  • Children’s Olympics,
  • Cinema,
  • Bouncy Castle,
  • Face Painting,
  • Lots of choice of food and drink.

Please put Oxford Canal Festival in your calendar... and why not bring all your family and friends.

The organisers are seeking volunteers to help on the day, and to set up. If you can help out for a couple of hours, please email volunteercanalfestival24@gmail.com, saying what you would prefer to help with. First come first served!

VOI Electric Bike trial in Oxford

As you may have already seen, Oxford City Council are allowing Voi to launch an electric-bike hire operation in Oxford.

The electric-bike hire will work in a very similar way to the e-scooter scheme that Voi run independently, with e-bikes being available for hire 24/7 and using the same operating area (including all existing slow and no-ride zones). Unlike the e-scooters which have a minimum rider age of 18, the e-bikes can be hired by anyone over 16 (no driving licence required).

A maximum of 100 bikes will be launched on a pilot basis. The bikes will be dockless, with Voi’s in-field teams switching out batteries when necessary. The e-bikes will be required to park in the marked or physical bays, just like the e-scooters, with repercussions for riders that park outside these zones, including fines.

If you need to report misuse of the bikes or untidy parking, please report it to Voi at https://report.voi.com

And you can send feedback on the e-bikes and the e-scooter trial to escooter.trial@oxfordshire.gov.uk

With all best wishes
WMRA Committee
