Learn more about the new traffic filters
The new City Centre traffic filters are scheduled to come into force in November 2024. We cordially invite you to a meeting, jointly hosted by WMRA and Oxfordshire Liveable Streets (OLS), where we can all hear a practical, jargon-free explanation of the filters and their impacts.
When: Monday 25th March
Where: School Hall, d'Overbroeck's School, Leckford Rd
When: 6pm
The talk by OLS will focus on the purpose of the filters, how they'll work locally, what kind of journey adjustments you might have to make, and how to apply for free passes and exemptions. Hopefully, some of our fears may be allayed.
The meeting will also hear from Carey Newson of Low Carbon Oxford North about the Oxford Car Free Challenge, a research project they are running in which a group of normally car-dependent residents of North Oxford go car-free for three weeks. The idea is to help understand the difficulties and identify possible support.
If you wish to reserve a seat at the meeting, book here. Otherwise just turn up on the night.
Can you assist Neighbourhood Watch with Bike Registration?
At 10 am on Saturday 23rd March, at the Winchester Road junction of North Parade and Church Walk, coinciding with the market, Oxford Neighbourhood Watch is offering free bike registration. This is by far the simplest deterrent for thieves, who would know that the bike can be traced if stolen.
The team need help from some able-bodied people who will pick up the bikes to find the frame numbers to be noted in the registration document. If you are willing and able to help, please send us an email and we will forward your details to the event organisers.
Many thanks
