WMRA Annual General Meeting

This year's AGM will be held on Wednesday 22nd November from 7-9pm at the Main Hall, D'Overbroeck's School, Leckford Road.

The Speaker will be William Whyte, Professor of Social and Architectural History at St John's College Oxford, and Chair of the Project Board for the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities. The Schwarzman Centre is the largest capital project ever undertaken by the University. It will eventually house university departments and also performing arts and exhibition venues. It is currently under rapid construction in our immediate neighbourhood, and we look forward to hearing more about it from Professor Whyte who has a well-deserved reputation as a brilliant speaker.

Please do join us for an interesting evening where we will also be able to give residents an update on the activities of the WMRA, its finances and on some of the larger planning applications currently active in Walton Manor on which we have been consulting.

Open Garden Event in aid of Agnes Smith Centre - Saturday 7th October

The gardens at 50, Plantation Road are usually opened to the public in the spring, but this year will also be opening this weekend in order to support a local charity, The Agnes Smith Centre, with their fund raising drive. The garden's autumn planting includes many varieties of dahlia, salvias, tithonia and fuschia. Postcode OX2 6JE. There is wheelchair access. Parking in Leckford Road.

Entrance: £3.50

Tea and cakes, cut flowers and plants for sale

The Agnes Smith Advice Centre is a registered charity providing independent advice in Blackbird Leys. We help local residents find long-term solutions to housing, benefits and debt problems, so that they can play a full part in their community.

Please support us if you can and pass on to your gardening friends.

With best wishes
