Demolition work is due to start on the old Party Shop at the end of September. We have been liaising with the Council, residents and the developers on the plans for this. The demolition is scheduled to take six weeks. Fortuitously, Walton Street is due to re-open to traffic next Monday 8th, which will allow them to use it where possible to remove material as described in the application.
Oxfordshire County Council have now reviewed the feedback they received in the consultation period.
Free park and ride journeys and additional free permit types have been added to the proposal for a temporary congestion charge, and the full proposal will be discussed by Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet on 10 September. If approved the temporary scheme could be introduced in autumn this year.
We will update you as soon as we know more.
The beautiful gardens at 50 Plantation Road will be open again on Saturday 20th September from 1.30-5.30 pm. There will be tea, cakes, plants and cut flowers to buy. Admission £4 in aid of the Agnes Smith Advice Centre in Blackbird Leys.
Please make a note in your diary... we hope you will join us for this year's AGM at D'Overbroeck's School, Leckford Road on Tuesday November 4th 2025 from 7pm. Speaker details to be confirmed nearer the time.
With best wishes
WMRA Committee
