Traffic Control Updates

Update on Traffic Filter rollout

Following Network Rail’s announcement about a delay in Botley Road reopening, Oxfordshire County Council’s traffic filters trial is now on hold. They have circulated this statement:

"The county council is deeply dissatisfied and frustrated that the launch of its traffic filters trial planned for November is now not possible. This is because Network Rail has postponed the replacement of Botley railway bridge and is unable to reopen Botley Road in October.

The council remains committed to the trial, which aims to tackle Oxford’s chronic congestion problems and dramatically improve bus journey times.

The only feasible option is for the council to wait and run the trial after Network Rail completes its work. The council is now waiting for Network Rail and the Department for Transport to confirm if work will continue and when it will be complete.

Residents and businesses have shown incredible patience with more than a year of disruption to their lives because of Network Rail’s project. While the road remains closed, the council will continue to do all it can to work with partners to minimise the impact on the rest of the road network."

Reminder of local road closures for Woodstock Road works

Works on the west side of Woodstock are beginning shortly. They will improve cycle lanes and pedestrian pathways and will install a new zebra crossing from Little Clarendon Street to Bevington Road. The works will last until early 2025. Side roads entering Woodstock Road from the west will each be closed, each becoming a cul de sac for up to five weeks, until their section is finished.
